Lullaby of a Songbird

Lullaby of a Songbird

A Poem by Esther
"

9/19/16

"

The yearning songbird sang a lullaby
To guide the heart of an impassive wolf.
It seemed as though the songbird's gentle lullaby
Was not enough to pacify the chaos within the wolf,
And his cold eyes showed no remorse--
But the songbird sang her lullaby.
She sang softly and gently each day
In hopes her song would resonate in his soul.

The wolf's restraints let loose
And within his cold eyes showed panic--
He was frightened by the thought of empathy.
The songbird sang her gentle lullaby once more,
And to her astonishment
The wolf found solace in her song.
