Lillian entered the ballroom, her friends gawking at lord Ralf, a stout and ignorant man. Lillian had no desire for Ralf, whom has tried to buy his way into her bed with little prevail. Although she shows little interest in Ralf, her father stresses his importance to the community, as well as his vast wealth and promised her hand to him already. As she strolls across the ballroom towards her suitor, her eyes lock on a handsome young man who was chatting away with a young girl. It was the mysterious business man whom she had met the previous night.
'What was his name?', she couldn’t remember. He looked up quickly and looked dead in her eyes. The ballroom’s guests dancing around obstructed her view for only a second. When the line of sight cleared, he was gone. Lillian turned to join her friends.
“Excuse me my lady”, a stranger said behind her. Startled, she turned to see the man from across the room. “May I have this dance?”
“Why of course my lord” she replies in a mixture of shock and curiosity.
“Please my lady, call me Dante” he said.
‘Dante!’ she thought to herself, ‘how could I have forgotten!’. Lillian blushed a bit as she held out her hand. He took it gently and led her out to the dance floor. As they glided across the floor, she gazed deeply into his eyes. The cold glacier blue tint seemed to hold a dark secret, but she couldn’t help but get lost in them. She got sucked back into reality by lord Ralf telling Dante to leave his fiancé alone.
“I’m sorry my lord, I did not know she was yours”, Dante said is an almost sarcastic tone and gracefully wandered off.
A scream erupted from the back of the room. A dead body fell from behind the curtain; a dagger plunged in the temple. All the guests ran towards the scene, all accept Lillian, whom was looking for the man who had captured her heart in an instant. Dante however was nowhere to be found.
While everyone was fussing over the man with the dagger Lillian used that time to wander around the ball room in search for the mysterious Dante with no luck. Discouraged she tried to find Ralf so she could go home, her night ruined. She couldn’t find him and decided to just go home by herself; her place wasn't far from the party she could walk. Lillian went to the little room which held all the ladies coats and purses and easily found hers. She grabbed her fur coat and purse and slipped quietly from the party unnoticed. She had only been walking for a few minutes when she felt someone behind her. Hoping it was Dante she spun around
               "Dante? Is that you?".
"I'll be anyone you want me to be darling." came a nasally voice. A man came out from the side of a building reeking of alcohol. Gasping she clutched her purse tightly and backed away only to bump into a second man who then grabbed her by the shoulders.
“Look rich and beautiful. Come on lad lets show her a fun time." the man holding her snickered, suddenly his hand snaked out and grabbed her purse from her clutches throwing it to his partner. Spinning her around, he ripped her coat off her and pushed her up against the brick wall of the building.
"Please don't hurt me." she pleaded only to be laughed at.
"Shh don’t worry I'll take good care of you" The man started to undo the lace bodice of her party dress.
"TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF HER!" someone yelled from somewhere nearby. Immediately Lillian knew that voice, it was Dante. The man holding her let her go and she fell to the ground trying to cover herself up. She peered around the man to see Dante standing only a few feet away.
"Get out of here if you know what’s good for you." the original man said coming to stand by man in front of her blocking her view of Dante. The two men each pulled out a small dagger.
Lillian heard the sound of Metal scrapping against something and then the sound of something cutting the air.
"This man is crazy let’s get out of here!" the man who had pinned her said. The men drop their weapons and ran away like the rats they were. Lillian looked after them until a shadow fell upon her. Looking up she saw Dante.
"Are you alright my lady?" he asked extending his hand to help her up.
"Lillian um my name is Lillian."
"Alright. Are you alright… Lillian?" She nodded her head and gratefully accepted his hand. Pulling her up he averted his eyes while she fixed her dress.
“Who are you?" She whispered. Looking straight at her with his icy eyes
“I told you I'm a business man."  With that he turned around and quickly disappeared into the night. Lillian looked at the spot he was just at and knew she had fallen in love.

This sence in the story is what set off the WHOLE book. Its why I call my fiancee My Lord and he calls me Lady.
