Behold

Behold

A Poem by Zach
"

Finding oneself

"
I so desire to behold wonders much bigger than me,
That I might be swallowed whole and spit out with an expansive perspective.
So I say,
Take me to a canyon, that I may,
Fill it like the void in my chest with the beat of a heart.
Take me to the falls, that I may,
Pour my soul out over the cliffs and be cleansed.
Take me to the mountain, that I may,
Stand tall and look upon the valley of my conscience.
Take me to the forest, that I may,
Walk the paths hidden in my past.
Take me to the sea, that I may,
Swim in the vastness of my emotions.
And take me to the desert, that I may,
Feel the warmth of love surrounding me.
Let these things possess me,
And I will be transformed.

Haha no worries, I've been so busy that I haven't visited WC is a while! Your most welcome
I really liked the way that this poem was written. The repetition with "that I may" was natural and created structure throughout the poem. It makes me think of two things - first, the discovery of self within the world and second, the amount of depth that every individual holds. It's like saying all of these natural phenomenon are reflections of me, and it takes an entire ocean to hold my emotions. My favorite lines were:

"Take me to the mountain, that I may,
Stand tall and look upon the valley of my conscience."

Very well written.

Thank you for reading my work, as I certainly do enjoy reading yours.
The introspection in this poem is cleansing....leading to inner peace. Nature can bring us to a better place and clear our minds....it can bring the important things into perspective. What magnificent imagery you employed in this write. Wonderful work. Lydi**
