There Is A Deep Ache In Loneliness

There Is A Deep Ache In Loneliness

A Poem by felioness

There is a deep ache in loneliness

a ticking time bomb

ready to explode into the nothingness we all fear

afraid to face the inevitable… alone

aah …but here also lies the worm

That dirty little maggot is busily digging into

our subconsciousness; devouring ego,

self-confidence, peace of mind and leaving

its s**t behind... and its s**t is desperation

We grab onto the first warm body that looks our way

and when the s**t hits the fan, we withdraw into ourselves

knowing we've never felt lonelier than at this very moment

realizing we made another bad choice and that love is

...  a bitter concept gone astray

There is a deep ache in loneliness

Primordial and sullen, it is unable to accept the cold reality,

that we are always alone, and others aren't responsible

for our sunny days

That dirty little maggot feeds on excuses

and platitudes, pooping out desperation;

then laying the eggs and here people,

here is where loneliness is born

sigh...

sometimes it's our fears, sometimes it's other's fears - that drag us down that path. Sometimes we got hurt soooo bad behind our eyes that a few never recover and others take years relearning to reach beyond their comfort. Trust IS earned not given! But after everything ...we don't choose whom we love, just whom we like; and daydreams ARE nice but can't hold you close.
