two parts of one equationA Poem by felionessinfidelityalone in the killing hour, the
sunless hour, dark
truths raked over burning coals cool to ash I
am spent
In
utter darkness I stare at the dying ember that is my cigarette - a reflection in ebon tangled in the velveteen folds of this coffin that
is my bed
I
am removed from dreams of heaven I
spoke of its death on withered lips cracked
and mortified by treason
and
picture this -
I
did it without reason
I
saw his face ... betrayal
driven home with the weight of a ball peen hammer
I
destroyed a man...
...as
if it didn't matter
beside
me on the nightstand, a
bomb ticks... time
measured by spinning wheels and
grinding cogs; mechanics marking the monotony of this most momentous occasion
and in
the pitch blackness of
an un-enlightened path a
foot treads upon my grave puckering
peccable and self-serving flesh;
