dirty rebelA Poem by felioness3) Work that is about feminism (it's fine if you're a feminist and it's fine if you aren't. Do not submit work that shames, ridiculous, berates, etc. someone for being One woman's emancipation.i asked for love i received demands for sex i asked for respect i received demands for servitude i asked for equality i received demands to earn it ... along with expectations to prove i was: more than a wife fulfilling her husband's marital rights more than a housekeeper managing his home and property more than a mother raising his children did i not own my sexuality as did my husband? did i not deserve the same right to be and act, as did my husband? did i not exist in the same realm as that of my husband, free to enjoy the same challenges and pleasures inherent in the very act of living, as did my husband? no i did not so i stopped asking i stopped "earning" i stopped waiting for liberty to be bestowed upon me instead i found love (and was branded a w***e) i believed in my own self worth (and was called an egoist) i chose to live as i decreed (and was labeled a disturbed rebel) i took liberty by the horns wrestled with it in the mud and the blood and the filth until i won
i wear the dirt, and scars and the filth with pride they symbolize redemption i am finally, truly free © 2014 felionessReviews
