The bullies are gone!A Poem by Lenny McCarthyThe tragic effects of bullying on a young boy."The bullies are gone Ma, the bullies are gone!" Young Johnny chirped loudly as he skipped along. "Briggs cant get me and spit in my face. They're no longer here Ma, its a much better place!" The young boy danced and jumped with glee, forgetting entirely about the scrapes on his knee. "Oh Ma I'm so glad I got out of there, they beat me, jeered me and pulled at my hair!" Johnny looked back upon all of his pain. "Why did they do it? they had nothing to gain." Battered and bruised, the scars there were many. Today this young boy felt like a shiny new penny. "I told my teachers like you said I should do, but the boys just kept saying "No that isn’t true!"" Teachers got tired of hearing his woes. "Look son that’s life, we get friends, we get foes." An ice cold descended, blue lights they flashed. Drugs wearing off to the ER he was dashed. The nice dream was over, he had given up hope. Johnny was cut from four feet of rope. The last thing he felt was a tear from his Ma. "Mammy please mammy, you can heal every scar. I'm so sorry, but they have pushed me this far." His Johnny now rests in a cold clay hole, deprived of life, gave God his sweet soul.
