When we were younger...

When we were younger...

A Poem by Phae

I still remember in those days,
We used to say let's get a job that pays!

Were we'll still get to have fun a lot,
Day and night in an office? Certainly not!

What did we know then, about passion?
It was as foreign, as the latest fashion,

All we'd known then is we wanted to be rich,
Run a company, own a country, anything but teach,

Now highschool's over, we've gone our separate ways,
We'll never be the same, the rest of our days,

Our future lies squarely, in our hands,
But in the end, which of us still stands?

Do we listen to our heads or our hearts?
Whatever we choose, there our journey starts,

So what happens when being a writer's your dream?
And you're certain your parents will never be on that team?

How do we find the will to stand and fight?
How do we explain, make them see the light?

When we were younger, could we have been wronger?
Growing up now, we'll have to be stronger.
