Fear

Fear

A Poem by Sheila M
"

A poem I wrote during a difficult time in a past relationship.

"

So many questions

So many tears

It all came from

Our very own fears

Our fears of being alone

Our fears of being in pain

Sometimes they cause us

To only turn away

How do you find

The answers to the fears

What caused them

For so many years

I wish I could find

The answers I seek

I want to learn to love

I want to be free

Free of the fears

Free of the pain

Free of the worry

So I can love again

How many times

You told me of love

Your love for me

How mine wasn't enough

All I could give

All I had in me

I gave to you

But you didn't see

I had hoped to help you

Hoped you'd see the sun

Instead of the darkness

the pain made you numb

If for only one moment

You let yourself see

The love I tried to show you

and let yourself be free

Sheila this is bittersweet - resonant writing. That last verse especially - put a lump in my throat. Beautifully written....
