The Visit

The Visit

A Poem by Sheila M

I lay my head down.
The pillow comforts me.
My eyes are closed.
I'm in the space between awake and asleep.
My friends visit.
Friends I've never seen,
Only heard in my thoughts.
These spirits have guided me,
Befriended me and comforted me.
They share with me so many things.
Things of importance.
Things of the day.
Things I don't understand, only to realize later.
Visions of these appear in my mind;
Grass, a trunk, the oddest sort of things.
Eventually, I know what each one means;
What each represents.
Then, I feel fulfilled.
Confirmation of a gift bestowed upon me.

"my friends visit"
Is this not the best visit of all, with closed eyes your
friend is right there, living breathing and to bring your
life new meaning. Beautiful.
Not only do you tell us a story, you take us in to your
life in your writing, you talk to us and tell us how you
are doing and I find you to be fascinating.
Thank you for an exciting story.
