In this hour of darkness

In this hour of darkness

A man in a state of depression thinks about life

"

The dull monotony of life rang out loud like a bell chiming, announcing yet another era of dark and gloomy days. Where was the light at the end of the tunnel? Long had it become a fabled legend, a myth in the making, a whisper that would one day be forgotten when mankind loses Pandora’s last gift to the world, hope.

Something different, a change from this tedious routine that he had found himself attached to, that is what he ached for. The one supposed universal constant known as change had been vanquished, leaving him in a perpetual state of doom.

As sure as ever, he heard the dramatic music play in the background of this screen play that he once called his life. The angels had forsaken him. He hardly even remembered that there was once a time when laughter was the means of communication. A smile, a nod or even just a warm look in a person’s eyes use to say it all. Bit by bit, the meaning of his prolonged stay on pile of dirt and sand, was lost to him.

The light was fading. What would happen to him when those imaginary bells stopped chiming, god, if he existed, only knew
