Chapter 5A Chapter by Jessica A. FaustShaze wakes up and mets Mistist. Frank barges in and Shaze gets punished.“I didn't do anything.” Mistist said, drying her tears from her eyes.
“Well nothing but bandage you back up.” Mistist said looking down at the ground.
“Why is he so angry?” She thought to herself.
Shaze looked down and said to himself, “Oh so you did, thanks. But still how the hell did I end up here passed out like this?”
“How should I know? I walked up and saw you like this. Nothing more, nothing less.” She said to him.
“Oh you probably did. I remember now.” Shaze said, nothing taking anymore note to that.
“But still, what the hell is an Angel like you doing helping a Demon like me.” He said with a serious look on his face.
“I'll help whoever I choose. I say you suffering and I just can't stand for that.” She said, heart pounding.
“What was he going to do to her?”
“Ah, I see.” Shaze said getting up off the ground.
He was a little shaken but ready to be on his feet. His head hurt quite a bit. He assumed from the amount of blood he had lost. He walked over to a bench shaking as he did, when he felt an arm stop him from shaking. Mistist had grabbed his arm, hoping to help him.
“Let me help you move. You are really messed up right now and I don't want you doing more damage to yourself.” She said.
“Fine.” He said, letting her help him to the bench.
“Hay what's your name any way. I owe you at lease mine and you owe me yours since you did kind of save my life. My name is Shaze Flayze.” He said, looking up at her.
“Mine is Mistist Uzara. I was happy to help you in a time of need. How'd you mess yourself up like this anyway?” She asked, looking him up and down.
“A battle with a soul that had consumed a lot of other souls. He preyed upon my weaknesses.” Shaze said to her.
“Is that what you do as a Demon?” She asked him, yet another question.
“Boy, you like asking questions. Yes, I capture escaped souls or consume souls that are too evil for Hell. What about you what do you do?” He asked her right back, he began to smile.
“Who knew an Angel could be so pleasant to talk to? None of the other Demons have ever talked to me like this. I like this.” Shaze thought to himself.
“I'm what they call in Heaven a Mist Angel. I pour the Mist from the skies and the consider it a high ranking job and honor. But lately I've found out something.” Mistist said, unsure that she was supposed to tell a Demon this, even if she had saved his life.
“Well kind of like the concept we have in Hell. I'm a Winged Warrior Angel. There are ten ranks. How many do you have?” Shaze asked, as thought she were his best friend and he told her everything.
“What has come over me?” He thought to himself.
He caught himself slipping toward her, wanting to touch her.
“No, thoughts be gone from my head.” He thought to himself.
“There are ten also. Does your Devil change like our God?” She asked with curiosity, she'd never felt this way about someone and she just wanted to know more.
Shaze couldn't' help himself he spoke his heart's content. “Yeah and I'm in the running to become the new Satin. I plan on changing everything. I don't understand why we have to be enemies, you are twice as smart as any Demon I know.” Shaze said catching himself smile.
“How can this one girl bring me, a mighty Demon, falling down to his knees?” He asked himself in his mind.
“That sounds wonderful. I would love to live in peace with you guys, that and the Humans too. We could teach them our ways so they aren't scared when we are working. We will no longer have to hide.” Mistist spoke with such passion.
“It's like she is reading me like a book. How strange this feeling coming over me?” Shaze thought.
He'd never felt this close to someone. Something was dragging him to her. He wanted to know more and more about her. He watched her talk and brush her long silver hair off her white gowned shoulder. His eye gleamed.
“You know me like we've been together forever. How can you read my every thought?” He asked her.
She blushed and said, “We just have similar ideas.”
She'd never thought of a male the way she was now. He was handsome and daring with his smile. She felt like she was betraying Stoney. But something about this guy made her skin tingle. She was hooked on his every word and when he'd said the last line, her heart gave a huge leap. It could have come straight out of her chest.
“Why does he make me feel this way?” She thought.
“You could say that, or you could say we've known each other before.” He laughed.
“I think I'll go with what I said.” She laughed back.
They were both laughing and having a good time when Frank walked up.
“What do we have here? You are with a Angel?” Frank spoke to Shaze.
“Frank, what the hell are you doing here.” Shaze said, ready to defend Mistist if he needed to.
“Coming to check in on you. You always run to this little town. Why? He said sadisticly.
He wasn't going to let Shaze off easy, this could be the end for him. Shaze was wounded and probably couldn't fight. But then again he didn't need to, because all Frank needed to do was go tell the current Devil and it would all be over.
“I remember things, Frank. I know things about what happen to me. Do you know what happened to you?” Shaze said a smug look on his face.
“Shaze what's happening who is that?” Mistist spoke.
“How dare you Speak in front of a Demon you stupid little girl.” Frank said heading straight for her.
He was going to make her pay for talking. She had no right to. That was law in the Underworld. Shaze cut him off.
“You got beef with me, leave her out of it.” He said right into the little troll's face.
“Defending her, does this girl mean something to you? Oh please don't tell me you've fallen for an Angel.” Frank laughed, pushing past Shaze.
He reached for Mistist and grabbed her. He held her to his sickening brown skin. He held her about the neck. She couldn't breath. She waved her hands at Shaze begging him to help her. Shaze slammed into Frank.
“Frank leave Mistist the hell alone. She did nothing to you. Who cares if she spoke in front of you? Get off your high horse and take up your fight with me. I'm the one that stands in your way.” Shaze said, fire burning within his blue eyes.
He wouldn't let Frank hurt her. She was the one person Shaze could talk to. Who cared if she was an angel? Shaze sure didn't. Shaze drew his sword.
“Come on, Frank. Lets go!” Shaze shouted cutting at Franks feet.
“Why are you trying so hard to defend her? I will take my battle up with you, but later? Frank said releasing the girl and heading back to the Underworld.
“Keep your little Angel in check or something bad will happen to her.” Frank laughed as he walked away.
“Why you little troll of a Demon.” Shaze shouted as he picked Mistist up off the ground.
“I'm so sorry. Frank is a real pain. I can't believe he did that to you.” Shaze said cleaning Mistist gown off.
“Thanks for getting me out of that mess. You were going to fight for me even though you are servery hurt.” She said to Shaze looking him in the eyes.
“Well yeah, I can't let the innocent fall on someone else's blade. Let their blood spill over something that is my fault.” Shaze said looking her back in the eyes.
“You dumbo you could have gotten killed. I didn't work hard just to bandage you up to get killed.” She said hugging him.
“What the...” Shaze said, but returned the hug.
“How could I have gotten so close to her in a few minutes? How could she have pushed back my guard so easily?” Shaze wondered, still in a holding embrace with Mistist.
“You can let go now.” She said to him laughing.
“Oh! Oh, I'm sorry.” He said letting his tight grip go.
“Why had he been holding her so tight?” Shaze said all confused in the head.
He didn't know what was going on anymore and wasn't sure he wanted to. This girl had breached his guard in less than an hour and had warmed his soul. He wouldn't forget that.
“Well I better be going. Got to deal with Frank.” Shaze said.
“Take it easy. Don't make me chase you down and seal you back up.” Mistist laughed.
“Oh I will. You can try can catch me, but I doubt you will. I'll catch you around. Same place tomorrow?” Shaze called at her as he walked away.
“Don't doubt it, believe it. And yah, I'll see you here tomorrow. Same time, same place.” She said waving her new friend goodbye.
Though something inside her was telling her not to head home. She needed to be getting back. Shaze didn't want to go home, but he really needed to deal with Frank and his stupid self.
“Why did he need to ruin all my fun?” Shaze spoke to himself softly so no one would here as he headed back to the Underworld.
When he got back, Frank was waiting on him, an evil look in his eyes. Shaze walked past Frank, when Frank grabbed his arm.
“Hold on just a second. You and me need to have a little talk.” Frank said, looking very unpleased.
“What do you want, Frank?” Shaze said, pulling his arm from Frank's grip.
“I wanted to know why you were talking to an Angel. You know it's forbidden.” Frank said to Shaze, as if Shaze had done something so terribly wrong.
“I don't care if it's forbidden. She was nice and meant no harm. Why are we even hating of them?” Shaze looked at Frank, the two boys keeping distance from each other.
“Because it's law. I wonder should I tell the Devil of your late night adventures?” Frank said with a huge smile across his face.
“Go ahead. Tell him. I don't care.” Shaze said mind determined to feel this way.
“What!?” Fine I will.” Frank said with eyes wide in disgust.
“How can he be serious and so stupid?” Frank thought to himself, as he walked away.
“I really don't care.” Shaze thought, trying to convince himself that this was so.
As Frank walked away, Shaze punched at the wall. Truth was he cared way to much to ignore it. This could get both him and Mistist in trouble.
“How could I have just said all that to Frank? I'm sure to get in to trouble now.” Shaze said walking back and fourth in the hall.
All the other Demon's stayed away, not daring to interfere with Shaze's fury. When he got this way, they all scattered.
“I can't believe I did that, but what's done is done.” Shaze said with a sigh, dragging his hand through his hair.
“I just have to take it easy. Stay calm and when it's time to justify my actions, don't act rash.” Shaze spoke himself down from his rage.
“Why does this even bother me this much?” Shaze asked himself, walking the hall now in one direction.
Frank walked back down the hall. He grabbed Shaze tugging at him. He was determined to bring Shaze with him no matter what. Shaze was fighting him, tyring to get loose.
“Stop fighting. The current Devil, himself, wishes to talk to you. And he wants to talk to you now. So come on before I drag you all the way there.” Frank said, pulling Shaze into the cave.
All the Demons watched as this happened. They seemed to know something was about to go down. Shaze no longer put up a fight, but walked with his head held high. He felt no shame. He didn't think what he did was all that wrong. The two Demons, Frank and Shaze, walked into the Devil's dorm. He was resting his head on the desk he sat at.
“Sir, I have brought Shaze for you.” Frank said with a smile across his troll face.
“What is this I hear about you talking to an Angel?” The current Devil said.
“Sir, I... They aren't as bad as they seem. At least not this one. I don't care what you do to me, but please leave her alone.” He, Shaze, bowed before the current Devil, on one knee.
“Please, please don't let him hurt her. I'm not sure if I could take that.” Shaze thought to himself in a begging voice.
“I see, young Shaze. You are willing to take her punishment as well?” The current Devil asked.
“Yes. I am.” Shaze said his head bowed.
“Well than. Your punishment shall be training the younger and new Demons.” The current Devil said, deciding not to give Shaze a cruel punishment.
“What?! That's all he gets? What happened to tradition?” Frank said, walking up to the current Devil really fast.
Frank wasn't happy with the Devil's decision to give Shaze such a mild punishment. His eyes burned as Shaze flashed a smile at him.
“You heard what I said, Frank. That is law. Things need to change. We don't have to hate the Angels.” The current Devil said, standing up in front of Frank, his eyes serious.
“If you dare to defy me, I'll give you a punishment too.” Said the current Devil, looking at Frank directly.
“Thank you, sir. I will take my punishment with honor.” Shaze said, standing up from his bow, to look the current Devil in the eyes.
“He's so much kinder than people say.” Shaze thought to himself as he started heading for the door. “You can start tomorrow, Shaze.”Said the current Devil, as Shaze walked out the door.
“Thank you.” Shaze murmured once again as he walked out the door completely.
Shaze walked out of the Devil's dorms and into the cave. He took flight off the cliffs again. He was heading back to Nidia, in hopes that Mistist would still be there. When he reached the park, sure enough she was still sitting on the bench.
“Yes.” Thought Shaze.
He landed and walked over to her.
“Hay. I'm back.” Shaze said, looking at her staring up at the stars.
“Oh! I didn't think I'd get to see you again until tomorrow.” Mistist said, looking Shaze up and down.
“So how did it go?” She asked him, as he sat down.
“The punishment wasn't as bad as I thought and the Devil is a very pleasant man himself.” Shaze said, sitting fully down.
“Punishment?! Did you get punished because of me?” Mistist said looking alarmed.
“Yeah, but it wasn't a bad punishment to what I could have received. I'd take another bullet for you.” He laughed.
“You're sweet, thanks. I never thought Demon's could be this kind hearted.” She said blushing a bright red color. No one had ever made her feel this way.
“What is this feeling over coming me?” Mistist asked herself.
“Yeah, I guess I'm a real sweet hear.” Shaze said with a small wink.
He leaned his elbows on his legs and laid his head within his hand. He stared a the ground his face light with blush.
“Why had this girl make him feel this way?” Shaze thought, his emotions rocking back and forth between friend and more.
“Yeah, you really are.” Mistist said, wanting to slip her hand into his open hand.
The one Shaze wasn't leaning on. The two spent a while looking at each other, both having the same curiousness about each other. Shaze moved closer to her, Mistist slowly, so she might not notice it. While he was doing so, Mistist moved over toward him. They both had their hands on the bench, both were at unsteadiness.
“Um... Shaze. Mind if I ask you a question?” Mistist said to him as she fiddled her feet on the ground.
“Yeah sure. Speak your mind.” Shaze said, the question making him freeze in his movements. He was almost touching her now. He could feel her warm glow across his skin, yet he wasn't touching her. It was the closeness that made him feel this way.
“Are you in love with anyone? I mean, are you sleeping with anyone, or maybe I mean both... I don't know.” Mistist said, tilting her head to the side. She looked at him.
He had his head bowed to the ground, almost as if he'd tucked it between his legs. His silver hair was a tossled mess. She wanted to reach up and push it out of his beautiful blue eyes. Shaze looked down at the ground harder. His face turned a darker shade of red.
“Yeah, I think I'm falling in love with someone, but they wouldn't dare come with me. They'd get in terrible trouble. I can't have that.” He said with her on his mind.
He twirled his thumbs around each other taking his hand from his face and the bench. He leaned them on his legs still, with his head dipped down. He was trying to hide how red his face was. It was true, he felt something for his girl. But how would he tell her.
“Oh. I see...” She said with disappointment in her eyes.
She didn't know that he was talking about her.
“Why do you ask?” He asked her, shaking the blush from his face to look at her.
When he looked up there were slight tears in her eyes.
“Did he cause this?” He asked himself.
“Oh, no reason. I just wanted to get ot know you better.” She said in a sort of whisper.
“You sure.” Shaze asked, hoping she'd tell him the feelings he had she was feeling too.
“Yeah, I'm sure.” Mistist said now her eyes glued to the ground.
“I can't tell him how I feel now. He's in love with another. Plus, I'm with Stoney. Dear Stoney, she'd always been good to me.” Mistist thought slight tears in her eyes.
They glistened against the never ending night.
“Oh ok.” Shaze said with anger beginning to boil up in him.
“Are you with anyone?” Shaze asked, staring down at the ground too.
“Yeah, she's cute. Her name is Stoney. But I fear I'll hurt her very soon.” Mistist said, some tears falling down her cheeks.
“Oh so...” Shaze said ready to burst with fire.
He was ready to kill the person that stood in his way.
“How could I even begin to fall for the Angel? She doesn't even have feelings for me. She is with another and it will probably stay that way.” Shaze thought to himself, his walls closing back up around him.
“To think I let someone in so easily. I am a fool. Maybe this was why it was forbidden.” Shaze thought some more.
Shaze had never been told the story of how the original God had loved this beautiful woman and she loved him back. Then, one day, his best friend, the original Devil met the woman and she fell madly in love with him. She left the original God and got with the original Devil. The couple was happy until the original God planned to kill the beautiful woman. God and the Devil had a big war. It was a clash of best friends. The original God felt betrayed and so he killed the beautiful woman, he then fought the original Devil. The Devil won and stood over the many bodies. He had said to be an empty soul.
“So what?” Mistist asked.
“So I should be going.” Shaze said coldly.
He wouldn't allow himself to feel anymore emotion for someone who would never love him back. He got up and turned his back to her. To her surprise she got up and rushed to him. She spun him around. So she could see his eyes. Then she planted a gentle kiss upon his lips. When the kiss released both halves were shocked. Mistist turned and took off after she realized what she had done. Shaze was left there standing and thinking.
Shaze didn't know what to think. His body was numb as he flew back to his room.
“Had she really kissed me?” Shazed asked the air around him, licking his lips.
He laid upon his bed for moments before he drifted off to sleep.
Mistist flew away as fast as she could.
“What have I just done?” Mistist thought.
She slipped her fingers across her lips, wondering if Shaze had felt the same shock. But she had been too scared to say and wait for his reaction. No, she ran away like a scared child. She wanted to turn back and tell him how she felt and that, that kiss made her want to fly. She just couldn't though. She reached the Heaven's and went to her room. She laid upon her bed and burried her face within her pillow.
“Why did I do that? I'm betraying Stoney. I love her don't I? But what of these new feelings? Mistist wondered while laying about her cloud shaped bed.
She could get him off her mind. It wasn't long before she began to sleep, but a loud voice broke the silence.
“Mistist, I know what you've been up to. I've let it go so far but this was too far over the line. Come to my room right this minute. We have a lot to talk about.” Boomed the voice, making Mistist jump from her sleep.
This made Mistist jump. At first she had no idea who had spoken to who. All she knew was she was in trouble. When she came out of her hazy fog she realized God had spoken to her. Now she knew she was in a mess. She walked down the hall and up a flight of stairs. This lead to God's room. She opened a door and saw him floating in the air, his white wings bigger than any she had seen before. He was waiting for her and she knew it. She also probably assumed what it was about. She walked up slowly and shyly to God. She'd never seen him in person until now and it was terrifying.
“Ah Mistist you are finally here. I have many matters of concern to talk about with you.” He said, his voice booming from every corner of the room.
It seemed to fill the air. How it did this was strange. It made Mistist fall to her knees crying.
“Why was he so painfully loud?” Mistist asked herself within her falling thoughts. © 2010 Jessica A. FaustAuthor's Note
