immutable narrative

immutable narrative

A Poem by itsquietuptown
"

on the determination to create; on creation as an expression of something outside of ourselves.

"

i am writing myself

into an immutable narrative

found just outside

the spotlight of history.

it is one i have not yet learned

how to wrestle with,

or quantify,

or settle in amongst.

i am learning new lessons

on scraps of paper -

heavyset yellow, carrying

the unfinished dialogue -

and these are lessons

amongst which i mould myself.

i move from a chrysalis

into the wisp of a flame.

i am writing myself into an immutable narrative

that i pave the way to through the lessons of my predecessors.

i am writing myself into an immutable narrative

nebulous, yet determined, focused, seeking only

to ignite

expand

and

burn

(each in equal measure.)
