To and fro

To and fro

A Poem by Derrek Wesley Steven Gaspard
"

Poem. Love. Sort of.

"

To and fro

I’ve seen you

Like a cause in chase

Many times I’ve lost myself

Looked up and found

you there with me

I’ve somehow found

the power to chase all my inhibitions

away

but the time wasn’t right

They came crowding in

again

All these games i’ve played

All the songs I’ve sang

This poem I’ve written

many different ways

and called by many names

Here, I’ve found no real decision

Indecision saved me

Can we start with happy ending

and work our way to once upon a time?

I can’t be a happy

ending. It’s not the

part where I was written.

A sum of parts.

Half a tune.

A portion of a story.

All these fragments mashed into me.

A putty face sculpted by the wind.

All of me!

All of me!

What a mess.

I’ve seen clearly.

There may be angles

imagined eyes can see

beyond my current limitations

everything they need

I hold no reservations

Hope-Dim, unclear

My purpose, cause, and path still stays me.

Strength beyond myself

In the night

when darkness wakes me

my strength finds me peace

I can not be

What I am not

and I change every day.

Hope endures my simple trials

and picks me up again.

Taken to where the

wind is raging,

today I’m changed again.

I’ve seen you, like a cause in chase

from far away

I feel as though I can nearly reach you

Once I spy your name.
