Take Care

Take Care

A Poem by Derrek Wesley Steven Gaspard
"

I'd hate to have to spell it out for you.

"

Thistles were growing in the unmowed lawn.

All 8 children were barefoot.

Keeping track of who was where was the hardest task.

Everyone had a number, it didn't help the chaos.

Color coding the children was the next obvious solution.

Adults would confuse them because they were close in age.

Randomly their mother picked their names alphabetically starting with Alexis and ending Harvey.

Even the children had difficulty separating their personal identity from that of the group.
