Beauty

Beauty

A Poem by Derrek Wesley Steven Gaspard

Beneath the summer sun
Wishing I were the only one
To see the amassing beauty
Of the children set to run
In the distance by the sea

Nightingale with your feathers upturned as cups towards heaven
Waiting to be filled with song
How long will you wait
frozen figure of stone

Touched by the grace of shed tears
There was no need, yet they came
One after another in a procession formed
A salty sea at my feet

Love lit like the distant sun
Bathing in the glory of illumine glow

Still water waiting to be rippled
Like breath over the sea

Sitting in the summer sun
Watching little children run
Outshining midnight stars
Sing nightingale sing
Reach out to the stars

Bathe yourself in innocence
For beauty is within them

this has a rhyme what is natural to the flow of words, and I almost can smell the grass, feel the light, and hear the birds singing for me. beautiful.
