Masks

Masks

A Poem by Derrek Wesley Steven Gaspard

Here we are

Disguised for eyes

with a conceived point of view

Hiding away the I

and you

Wishing to resolve

the difference we feel

which conflicts with

our decieving apeal

Jesus, save me from

who I pretend to be

Let your truth reside

inside of me

this mask falls away

you love me for who I am

Show me how to stand

on your love

Let go of what you see

yourself to be

Jesus's love will set you free

falling masks into the sea

of Gods neverending love

The love you've given is real.

My face uncovered in this shadowless light.

At points it seems sing songish and hallmarkish but I hope it comes across as authentic.
