Somewhere

Somewhere

A Poem by fatalsymphonies

Somewhere out there a tear is drawn
And somewhere out there a hand breaks
away from the woven fingers of a lover,
And a kiss brought to an end from one another;
One is at war,
Somewhere,
he prods on.

Do you ever think, somewhere
A woman clenches the skins of a newborn,
tears flowing down her face while her lover
entangles his thoughts with a gun, shooting away
to save a country he belongs to
Somewhere,
for his son, he prods on.

A dress is gripped in the hands of a lover,
fat glowing drops saturating her hair,
knowing that he, her lover, is out there
Somewhere,
for her, he prods on.

She lies in her cushioned mattress day and night
just waiting for the day he arrives,
stroking the hair of her child,
For Daddy will be back, he strives.

She waits and waits,
he prods on.
For someday, he'll open that porch door again
calling her name,
and he breathes at the rhythm of her pulse
Somewhere.

My dad was in the military so I relate to the whole father-bound-by-duty. My mom had her fair share of tears and I loved how you wrote this so the reader could relate to both points-of-view. It's sad, but sometimes that's just life.

Coming up to a deployment it's hard not to think more of your significant other than yourself. Sure being the solider away from home is stressful and awful in itself but it really is the other half that is the stronger of the two. They are the ones waiting, not knowing if they're loved on is going to come home one day, there is so much they don't understand. Great poem with a lot of heartfelt feeling.

A Soldier spouse is a hard life. When I was in for 15 years. The spouses would take care of each other when the Soldiers were away. The closeness of woman is amazing when they have a common bond of waiting and praying for the day the Soldiers come home. It isn't a easy life for a Soldier and their spouses. A powerful poem. Waiting is very difficult. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

Excellent writing and display of a heartfelt subject. I can't imagine that wait and wondering, hoping all will be okay. It takes a brave heart on both front to endur or to prod on. Great write.
