A rainbow

A rainbow

A Poem by fatalsymphonies

I watched you from the corner of my eye,
You wiped a glittery tear away but they were coming too fast for your warmth to
Take them away.

I pushed my chin up at my slight angle
and entranced my expression, which suddenly changed
To add that tingly sensation in which
I wasn't sure if I could cry or smile at the same time...

I saw my reflection in your teary eyes,
And blinked just a few times to gain my self realization,
But you smiled, and I
Couldn't help but see you see me
Just flying by, just soaring by.

You asked, "How do you do it?
How do you do it?"

I looked back at you, a crowd,
Hundreds of people pressing airs into my lips.

I felt the tingle arise again from deep below my eyes,
and deep within my chest,
far inside my ears... a rainbow.
I winced but smiled to say goodbye, I said back,
"For the world to see that it isn't me,"
I laughed, brushing my eyelashes away from my eyes,
my disguise.
I said,
"Sometimes it's okay to
fly alone."

What a delightful poem. Great imagery and metaphors, wonderful flow. This really had my attention from beginning to end to see where it would lead. Excellent job!
