Without her is a rose; without a bee.

Without her is a meadow; after dusk.

Why didn’t she heed the radio warnings?

Why didn’t she remain in my arms?

With faraway eyes,

Lips curled under,

Blood down to her thighs.

With each step she stumbles.

My eyes open.

She’s seated before me,

Tranquil.

I look about,

Colors redefined.

Blood now blue/green,

Grass now red wine.

I pluck a violet dandelion,

Hand it to my forever lover,

As a bee hums by…
