Colors RedefinedA Poem by Todd Fordlove in a time of zombiesI
can’t live…
Without
her is a feather; across clothed skin. Without
her is a rose; without a bee. Without
her is a meadow; after dusk.
Why
didn’t she notice the empty Main Street? Why
didn’t she heed the radio warnings? Why
didn’t she remain in my arms?
She
stands before me With
faraway eyes, Lips
curled under, Blood
down to her thighs.
With
each step she stumbles. Why
must she torture me so? I
step to meet her, It’s
my time to go.
Her
teeth seek flesh, I
don’t resist. Blood
throbs from my neck, Our
breath mingles, Like
lovers.
Dark--It--Becomes. The
pain subsides, Calm.
My
eyes open. She’s
seated before me, Tranquil.
I
look about, Colors
redefined. Blood
now blue/green, Grass
now red wine.
I
pluck a violet dandelion, Hand
it to my forever lover, As
a bee hums by… © 2012 Todd Ford |
