Forbidden Love

Forbidden Love

A Poem by Lou Woo

like pyramus and thisbe

we grew up like neighbors

we shared our joys, we shared our sorrows

we stood up for each other thought our families did not

like romeo and juliet

we were forbidden to love

we were kept apart

but we were destined to be together

too bad

theres a wall between us

layers of brick inside a sheet of cement

breaking our bond, splitting our paths

you on your side, me on mine

a wall so high that none can climb

a wall so long that none can walk over

a wall so thick that none can chink

a wall so headstrong to seperate us

a hammer cannot beat it down

a chisel cannot give it a scratch

a wedge cannot penetrate its layers

the wall stands tall and proud

but our love, it stands taller

head held high in times laid low

til one day the mighty wall collapsed in aw

and we were brought back together again

fait worked towards us after all
