Thirsty Thursdays

Thirsty Thursdays

A Poem by Natasha Leanne

She's dancing on the tables,

and acting like a w***e,

her drunkenness enables her,

to show a little more...

She screams and laughs "Let's Party!"

but everybody's done,

It's 2 am they tell her,

But she still wants some fun.

She's doing karaoke,

and while we're barely alive,

She's up on stage and singing,

The hit, "I will Surviiiiiveeee"

Ten to twelve shots later,

when she can barely walk,

she flirts with some young barman,

when she can't even talk!

I can't believe this woman,

who's on this drunken spree,

Who is this bloody woman?

Oh my God...

It ME!

I love the part "I will Surviiiiiveeee" With this you are using words to create a sound while maintaining the rhyme scheme you've established. I agree with Kelley's post, it is sad for the narrator, and the persons that needs to hold your hair back while you vomit in the cab after the 10-12 extra shots, but for the reader it is funny. sefl-depricating humor is very popular and is how David Sedaris became popular.
But I am not a fan of your title. A creative writing teacher I had would always say that the title is the most important lime because it is the only line your reader is guaranteed to read twice. I realize that I am six months late on commenting and I don't expect you to change anything, but the I don't think that "seriously?!" Something like Kareoke Tuesday would give the impression that this is not a one time thing but a weekly or dayly occurance. I dunno but those are my thoughts

I thought it was quite funny, but in the
right mind set I could see it would be quite sad.

Great write thanks for sharing.
