Smoking a day kills a life away

the prolonged pain from cigarettes and problems from its continuous usage

 

The dead would rather wish to be alive

Here you are giving it all away in vain

Ended up plotting your own death

What I ask you, will you ever gain?

One puff is all you need, to kill a creature

And boom, it becomes a bad deed

Can't you think for once, how it will harm?

The young, the old, it’s like a bad luck charm

Addicted you are and you might forever be

Are those memories so unbearable to see?

You want to forget better find another way

Solution is in front, so you had better stay

 

Cigarette is not the problem to your matter

The only thing it will ever do is kill and shatter

Think of those suffering because you are insane

Who cannot breathe, Who are in profound pain?

 

Lungs collapsed, back cut open

It sounds horrible to even be spoken

Stand up and fight diseases on your way

For humanity’s sake stop with this play......

Emphysema-is a long-term, progressive disease of the lungs caused by smoking...Each one of you can contribute in a huge way by not smoking...Every time you smoke your life decreases and I believe life is very precious to waste.

I wish this could be posted on every bar and in every public window possible. Very courageous of you to write this and thank you for standing up for those who are specifically allergic to cigarette smoke. It is absolutely heartless to smoke around a child, let alone other adults. It's bad enough that there is so much pollution in so many areas of the world that one can barely see the sky. It is a terrible addiction that yellows the teeth, the nails, discolors the skin, blackens the lungs, and destroys ones own breath. The worst part is, it reeks for miles and sticks to everything. I like the way you ask your questions, the boldness of it. Thank you so much for this poem, God bless you, and hope you may be free of smoke! Honestly I really feel for those who are addicted to cigarettes, who are unable to stop even though they wish they could. They are not bad people, they really do need help. It would be interesting to see a poem showing their perspective. Still thanks again for spreading the awareness!

This is very true, I know several people that have been smoking for several years, and now they are getting lung cancer :c
Smoking is one of the worst things you can do to yourself in my opinion
it only takes one
and before you know it you've been smoking for years

A very true message, as an ex smoker I feel so much better but also know how hard it is to give up smoking. I'm so happy that smoking is banned in public places now, so the dangers of passive smoking is greatly reduced. The greatest harm is done to self and family, who may breathe in the smoke or watch their loved one become ill and die.

I hate cigarettes, and it seems to run in my family. Such a disgusting habit. I know its a bad habit thats hard to kick, but some people don't even try and give the excuse "its not that easy". If it regards your health and living a long full life you should be trying and stop making excuses. Your health is so important.

I gave up cigarettes years ago, but it was a very hard thing to do. No one could make me give them up, I had to finally come to a place where I could quit and not go back. Some never reach that place, but it certainly is in their interests to do so.. good work.

ignored the slight stumbles with the rhymes good message and put across with a passion nursed many and am still nursing people with copd, cancers etc they mostly all said the same thing, if they only knew the risks involved with smoking they wouldnt have started.

i'm afraid you are preaching to the choir here, my friend. you see, i have stage two lung cancer and will not be here in ten years, and while it is too late for me, i like and approve of your message. cigarattes didn't do it to me, it is asbestosis from working in the shipyard as a young man. this is one reason why i post poetry, to leave some type of legacy. your message in this poem is relevant and important to our young people and i salute you for writing it so well and making it a part of your legacy to the world. wonderful write!!!
