Fear

Fear

A Poem by Luna Valentine

The closet, under the bed, the darkness.
Sources of fear.

Children awake in their beds
Shivering, crying
A light to keep away the dark
to keep away the fear

Their parents checking under the bed
Nothing is there
nothing but fear

A tapping on the window
children running from their bedrooms
but it is only an old willow tree
It is only fear

To chose not to ride on the motorcycle
but you do not chose
Fear choses

and maybe for the best
because that motorcycle would have crashed
killing all the riders
You have fear to thank for that

Locked doors
boarded up windows
trying to keep out robbers
killers
trying to keep out fear

A test
to see If you will pass or fail
trying to pass
trying to keep out fear

To chose to cross the road
if you go against fear
and cross the red light
you will be hit

because fear controls you
and you trust it
and it trusts you
It makes your choices
It makes your life

Yes, fear is strong. It is also the main driving force behind all beliefs.

That was an amazing topic to write about. It makes readers think about such situations, and the flow of words was well crafted.

As FDR said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Nicely captured.

Thanks :)
This is really quite fantastic. Very relatable and vivid topic, and you've presented it very well. I looked for things to criticize but there aren't any - well done.
