LegendA Poem by Barbara Gilmersomething about lonely that inspires the poetLike that lonely cup of coffee sitting in the back booth the dusty tables as your name flies by reveals the truth
you are still in my mouth like melted toffee and all the second cups will never satisfy or even fill me up
the scrape of tomorrow like shoes scratch the floor warns the diner’s closing and the only waiter is at the door
so I pack your legend to save it from the grime putting careful edging against passing time leaving the waiter his dime
