Rain

 

A sullen Saturday unveils

Impeachment of what does assail

arms, legs, mouths in a loving knot

Companied by measured tapping,

frenzied rain sends awnings flapping.

 

heart held hands hold on, breath and sound,

Exploding senses in surround

Atomic clock that time forgot

through the belly traces rumble 

seimic shock in which hearts tumble

 

Rain of hearts and of teary eyes

Suggest a way of compromise

Before you love, think you again

For promises may surely bend.

You always wrote the difficult forms with such ease, Barbara. This is a beautifully written Rosarian sonnet with wise life advice. "promises may surely bend"....indeed, things are sometimes quite different from how they seem at first. Lust is too often mistaken for love. The imagery is wonderful . So happy you are here, Barbara!
