him

A Story by FallenRain

A young teenage boy walked into my life one day. This boy was not like the usual boy in my high school. This young boy went by Clay. "Clay", it rolls of my tongue like a fish swimming down a peaceful stream.

If I would have known I would meet this creature in the night sky, I would have prepared myself for the battle to speak to him.

Looking from the back row of the small class I could see Clay in the front, clutching his notebook while contently watching the screen. I could not force myself to stop glancing at him. Butterflies were soaring in my stomach, even though his set of eyes never glanced in my direction. The next class we had to practice rescuing each other in the pool. The first half of the class I had to rescue this young boy and he had to practice rescuing me, but then suddenly the instructor told me to practice saving Clay. My heart completely stopped for a second that felt like days  went passed. I swam over to him as he went down to the bottom. Once when he broke the water's surface I dived to save him. My hand reached across his chest onto his right shoulder as I tugged on the life preserver to rescue us both. When we both surfaced his head was no farther than an inch away from my own. I could feel his heart beat beating in his chest. Just as I knew it I had already placed the life preserver under and over his arms and he was swimming away after being rescued.  I dived deep into the next swimming lane and surfaced and started a free style stroke when suddenly a blurry blob appeared in my vision. One stroke later I noticed it again. I peered above the waters surface and saw it was Clay. He gave me a smile and a funny expression, boy did that make my heart melt, while it probably meant nothing to him.

After a couple more minutes of rescuing  we were given a break. The cold water made us all shiver and make our teeth chatter. I hung on to the life preserver trying to stay out of the bone chilling water when my teeth began to chatter. Clay noticed and looked at me and said "Sissy" with a cute expression on his face. My jaw completely stopped chattering and turned into a bashful smile.

The 4th day of class was our last to see each other until later in the year. We were reviewing over the test we had taken, when we got an answer wrong we would call out and say what we put. when I answered one wrong Clay would look over to me and give me a smile, he meet my eyes and held onto them. When all the papers were passed in, it was time for departure. He left me standing there.

Have you ever felt something so strong between someone you have never even meet? I feel as though he is what I have been waiting for, for 16 years. Him crossing into my path made me realize possibilities are endless. There are so many people out there in the world that you cant limit yourself to the ones in your school, and not care about every little thing that your peers may seem to want from you. you are you, you are beautiful and there is someone waiting for you to hold your hand and never let it go. He helped me realize I am beautiful, not some ordinary somewhat pretty girl. What he did, is made me feel special.

now I long to cross paths with him again, cross paths with my perfect movie like character. Only future will tell if we cross paths again, when that comes I will have the battle to speak to him again.
