My One Chance to FlyA Poem by fallen_angelSometimes a person has some s**t going on in his or her head.I stood on the roof, Looking down upon the toy town, Gravel crunching beneath my shifting feet, The wind slightly ruffled my hair, And the sun was hot against my skin, I wanted to fly. I jumped, The air whooshed around me, Struggling to keep me up, My clothes enveloped my body like wings, It wasn’t just the air that made hot tears roll down my face, I was flying. The sky was all around me, It was the color of a calm river bed, Soft clouds swirled, like dancers on the floor, The sun looked upon me with emptiness in his eyes, And I looked back with an equal sadness, I was escaping. For so long I have wished to fly, I can shed my mask, no more pretending, Just the wind brushing up against my skin, The sky was getting farther away as the ground came closer, A weight was lifted off my shoulders as I realized; My flight was coming to an end. Good bye cruel world.
