"Blackbird on the Moon"

"Blackbird on the Moon"

A Poem by Faith Smith
"

If you have ever felt alone or unheard...You have once been a blackbird.

"

I've always been different

Never fitting in to save my life although the rest are walking contradictions

I sink deep beneath the surface

Hopefully learning that I deserve

Something so innocent others find hard to grip

Until then, I'll be the Black bird on the moon

All alone searching for my underlying roots

Wishing that one day I will define my natural sacred truth

Just to embark on that journey called the fountain of youth

I walk down the valley of silence

Anticipation pumping through my veins as I search for something other than the daily violence

Becoming hopeful that one day I'll believe in me

Daydreaming about the girl I've always wanted to be

Until then, I'll be the Black bird on the moon

A lost soul praying to join my heart with you

Black bird don't speak

Black bird don't sing

Black bird don't fall because you're too high on that tree
