Yesterday, I came across a picture of you

Your face was sweet, and the background was blue, and

I am happy now that you're gone

I saw you the other day, walking along, and

The time has come, the ship has sailed

The 'Dear John' letter has been mailed, and

My hands shook as I held the pen

I placed the letter in the box

And, I'm almost through feeling blue

I looked through your letters last week

I felt, with all of my heart, that I had to give them a peek, and

I almost cried, I almost died, I almost said goodbye

I know I never told you face to face

But you know I have felt so out of place, and

I almost cried, I almost died, I almost said goodbye

You were so cruel and my heart was breaking

I was giving all I had, but you were only taking, and

I almost cried, I almost died, I almost said goodbye

Now I've done what I needed to do

The love is almost gone between me and you, and

And, I'm almost over you
