Alone

Alone

A Poem by Faith Kinnison

Alone

I sit alone, in the dark

I pick up the pieces, of my broken heart

I remember the times, of yesterday

The laughter, and the way we used to play

I think of the love we once knew

The love that existed, between me and you

My heart aches, as I wipe the tears from my eyes

I stand up, as I remember your look of surprise

I told you that I had to leave

Told you that you had to believe

Believe in us, believe in me

Maybe someday you'll be able to see

The reasons I had to go

Maybe eventually you'll know

My heart beats just for you

My love will forever be true

You moved too fast

And I wanted this love to last

We can handle the wait

I pray that I'm not too late

I have returned, come back home

I hope to find you, all alone

I will love you, 'til the day I die

I can see your face, as you ask why

Your cold eyes will stare into mine

And I'll know, I came home just in time

I went out looking for my future, my life

How could I have known?

It was here all the time
