In the Park

In the Park

A Poem by Faith Kinnison

In the Park

A lonely old woman sits alone

On a bench, in the park

Her life, an empty shell of misery

Her heart, a prison of lies

Her love, a chain, trapping her inside a cage forever

Her children, the rainbow beyond the storm

Her never-ending search to find the pot of gold, her happiness

Her destiny, a web of deception, with no way out

Her choice, to sell her soul, to live in her hell

Her savior, the knight in shining armor

Never sent to save her life

Her hope, someday she would live again

A second chance

Her entire life was spent hiding from her treasure

And living in her self-made hell
