Why

Why

A Poem by Faith Kinnison

Why

I sit here and I can’t comprehend it

I don’t understand why you’re never coming back

You were so young, and so gorgeous

I remember when we were just kids

We would jump on the trampoline for hours

I never remember being happier

Than I was at that time

I remember the way your lips touched mine

And the way you held me in your arms

I’ll never forget the look in your eyes

When I told you that we could never be

You were so wide eyed and innocent

You believed that love conquered all

You should have grown up to someone great

You could have done anything you wanted

Why did you have to turn to drugs?

Why did you have to go off with that s**t?

Why did you have to fight?

Why couldn’t you just hold on a little longer?

Why are you gone?

Why are you never coming back?

Why does this ache in my chest hurt so bad?

It will never go away

I miss you so much

I think about you everyday

I really hope you’re okay

And I hope to see you again someday

Wow, great poem. Nicely written. You depict sadness quite eloquently here. Good job!
