"The Bittersweet Forgetting"

"The Bittersweet Forgetting"

A Poem by Fairy
"

Where memories fade, yet linger, a heart's dilemma.

"
Forgetting, a curse and a blessing too,
A shield that protects, yet a heart that's true.
We yearn to forget, to escape the pain,
But memories linger, an aching refrain.

Our hearts strain to let go, to move on and be,
Yet memories remain, haunting me.
In forgetting, we find solace, yet lose a part,
A bittersweet trade, that tears the heart.

Your poem highlights the emotional tension between seeking solace in forgetfulness and the heartache that comes with losing parts of oneself in that process. Definitely a blessing and a curse (dual effects) it shows how complex life can be...

Very good with your rhymes and structure. Enjoyed it,
-Amy

Well said and you're right both a blessing and curse.

This one fits me like a Tee, Fairy! Thanks for reminding me I'm not alone :)
( ... it's curious about Memories, isn't it, the way all dwell on the bad ones )
