Workstations

Workstations

A Story by Fahmida Mehreen
"

Honest confessions

"

In room full of busy bees, every mind is engulfed with thoughts uncountable. Work, one after another. Deadlines to be met. Meetings. Clientele dealings. Coordination with coworkers and teammates. Starting from the keyboards on the laptops till staplers and pin removers - none are at respite! Constant ticks and clacks. Files traveling all across the room. Flakes of papers. You name it! It is an absolute mayhem.

Amidst this entire chaotic and action-packed atmosphere, a thousand contemplation, a thousand ideas, keeps flashing on the surface of each human mind. All self-centered notions, of course. Because humans by nature are selfish. Every soul is chasing its own dreams. Every being is striving for its own accomplishments. Each individual has their own reasons for making and not making each stroke. The friendly gestures and the pat on the backs are definitely something to be thankful for. After all, a little appreciation is not so bad. But, the myriad backlash cannot be made up with a single awing. As harsh as it may sound, the naked truth nonetheless.

Day ends. Another comes. Ends again. In the circle of time, life goes on. We as humans - much adaptable beings, I must say - get conditioned to such state of beings. Like soft clay, our lives also get molded under the heat and pressure of existence. But, there is a thin line between contentment and not-dissatisfaction. Much often not-dissatisfied is considered to be gratification. Fulfillment. That is not true. There is no trade off. The grey line is a condition in itself. It is not black. However, let me be specific: it is not white either.

Look around. Watch the actions. Witness the drama. Because, by the time the curtains shall fall you will realize that you, too, were a part of the show.

This is true. This is how the world goes. The third para says it all. Contentment is the key to bliss, Fahmida. Those who know this watch everything with detachment.
I am glad to know there are souls who think, feel, understand and talk about these things. I am gratified to read this.
A very good message and a much needed one too. Your talent of producing such thoughts with such a brevity is amazing. Well done, Fahmida.
