A Story by Fahmida Mehreen

Days after warm tears stopped rolling down my icy cheeks; weeks after knives of loneliness stopped piercing through my bruised heart; months after ghosts of the days gone by stopped haunting my dispassionate soul; on some dark night, when the sky is lit with flickering stars, I rest my head on my cushion and wonder to myself:

In the entire scheme of loving and losing, am I the only one holding the account of loss? Was not there anything which you have lost?

Or, have you only lost the path to my unconditional sensuous love, because you have the vanity of possessing a brutal heart?

After reading such a powerful and precise writing I am speechless.
It seemed to me as everything was in a specific pattern and change in the pattern would have effect this write a lot.
In the first paragraph, you used imagery to take the reader into your world; full of sorrows.
In 2nd one, you explained the untold mystery of Love which mostly ends in pain, as it happened here too.
Last paragraph is most important one because it keeps the mystery hidden; question not being answered, but felt.....
Very nicely written

Very accurate metaphors you've used. The story ends on a quite somber note.

Thank you for taking out some time to read and review it. Happy to hold your remarks. Keep reading.
Seems like something of a fresh break-up, lol. Love and loss, I recognize the swirling storm of emotions they both can bring. It's a tough pill to swallow when the other person's heart does not mach yours, or is simply cold and 'brutal' as you put it. They can't even provide an answer, leaving us in the cold with no closure. That's how I read it at least. This was a nice little piece of consciousness you put down here. Perhaps a teeny bit melodramatic, but hey: we all need some melodrama in our lives at least a little bit lol.

Indeed, some answers are never meant to be found.
Thank you for the review.
An elegantly created writing with perfect words to express the right emotion and good metaphors.

I've read your previous works, most of your writings are thought based, right? You are quite skilled in this type of writing and that's a bright skill. Keep up with the wonderful work.

The first paragraph is classical. The use of words and phrases is exceptional.
The second para is sad. Two people fall in love but at times one of them outgrows that love and only one of them suffers.
We had always read that love is forever. Unfortunately it isn't. Like everything in this life, love too is mortal.
The one who loses unconditional love is the real loser in then end.
Very nicely written.

I like this concise, short and well-written work of yours. It is not an easy walk when it comes to walking on the path of love. The first para captured my imagination. The second made me think profoundly. The third aroused in me even deeper thoughts. After reading the last line, I had to accept you are a great and quite a different writer. Beautiful job. Keep writing.
