Secrets
By: Lani Mack

Drifting alone in a subconscious mind
I can’t help but yearn
For the sultry sweet night
Caved inside a body without a soul
I long for them to notice me again
To make me feel whole
The words I’ve spoken
Have driven them away in fear
Yet all I want is someone
To trust and be near
Depression has left me
Seemingly lifeless and dreaming
As if I’ll never wake up
Inside this world I’ve been living
My natural habit has long ago changed
No longer do I fall asleep
And wait for the sun to come up again
Now I force myself to bed
In those wee hours before the light
And my body sings out its joy
When the pillow conforms to my head
Day and night creature
One and the same
Will it ever be over
When will I only wish for the day

I agree with Sarah- the rhyme was so natural I didn't even notice it at first! Usually I don't like centered poems, but in this case it fits- it adds to the tone of loneliness and abandonment.

Really great description of depression and loneliness. I loved the rhyme, you did a great job at making it sound natural. ^_^

Hey, my name is Lani. My friends call me Tohru, Paco, Lenny, and Chihuahua. I used to have a different intro, but then I realized it was too short-so I decided to change it. Lol. Let's see...I'm now a.. more..
