The Moon

The Moon

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

written on a hot afternoon

"
My dog plops down
and he sighs.
I know just how he feels,
as the flies, lazily, circle our heads,
while both of us lie in our beds
and the fan is turning,
whilst our bodies keep burning;
it can't come to soon,
the moon, the moon...

Such wonderful imagery... Exhausting dragon days lazily marching on...

Yes, I know the feelings you express in this poem very well. I like how you used rhyme towards the end. It really added a note of finality to the piece. Interestingly done!

I agree with the poem. A hot day leave us wanting for the cool night and the moon. I like the description and the very good ending. Thank you for the excellent poem.
