Doesn't Anybody Know Me?

Doesn't Anybody Know Me?

A Poem by Barbara Walker

How can you know someone for years and years

and know they aren't known for telling lies

and have always shouldered their own load

and been there for others, who had some need,

who was always caring and compassionate

and lived by the golden rule

and didn't complain a whole hell of a lot-

How can you believe nothing she says is true

and blame her reaction to being in pain and disabled;

with her life changing SO much,

how could having the rug pulled out from under her,

ALL be blamed on a drug?

I do not understand how that can be-

doesn't anybody know me?

I believe no-one know who I'm. Even poor wife don't know my thoughts. I believe we got lost. I remember when the whole family would gather together three times a year. Now we meet for funeral only. Hard to find real friends. I agree with your thoughts. The golden rule of love and kindness had faded away. Maybe we are old fashion? Good thoughts and questions raised by the poem.
