Thus, Is Life

Thus, Is Life

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

Thoughts going throiugh my head on a late Thursday night in March, 2012.

"

God, I'm fat,

hey, these jeans make my butt look good!

I am so tired!

A movie? That sounds good!

I am so weak!

I took care of him while he was sick.

I am not the type to have any patience.

My sister needed a break, so I took care of her kids for three days.

I feel so ugly.

My little cousin said she wants to look like me.

My freckles are  a turn off.

I'd like to kiss every one of your freckles.

I don't have time.

Sure, I'll give you a ride to the store.

Just a reminder that we are rarely 100% one thing or another in our own eyes or any other person's eyes.

When things aren't going well, this too shall pass.

When things are going well, this too shall pass.

Thus, is life.

Thus is life, it's all in the way you look at it. How much better do you feel, when the glass is half full, than when it's half empty.

Your avatar drew me in...your sarcasm...I luv it! I couldn't agree with your wisdom more. What we see in the mirror doesn't matter. It's how well others respond to us...that makes life worth living. Family and friends...they see our soul for what it is.

Oh so very true. We never see our own reflection clearly and are our own hardest critics at times.
I'm not sure this makes a perfect poem, but the sentiment is hearfelt and honest and that counts more in my book then technical correctness.

life indeed, paradoxes and passing moments which sometimes pass too quickly while others seem to stretch beyond bearable. i can truly relate to the emotions and whirlydirvishness of this poem. so random, so life.

I watch my grand boys daily. They can test the patience. But I wouldn't trade one second away. I like the logic of this poem. Tire and rare time to rest. But a busy life is a good life I believe. I like how you ended the excellent poem.
