Turtle

Turtle

A Poem by Barbara Walker

A turtle,
cocooned in his shell
or a hamster,
forever at his wheel,
going nowhere;
the child,
endlessly watching television,
while sunshine
illuminates
the road outside.

It was only in the forties here, yesterday, but the sun was shining and I sat outside for an hour and a half, walking about a bit. That was the best part of my day! It makes me sad to see our children's minds melting into the YouTube and BoobTube, without experiencing the world outside the door, if they would just open it.

I wonderful write, indeed!
