Penetrating Pain

Penetrating Pain

A Poem by Barbara Walker

For years,

deep, penetrating pain,

has defeated my body and soul,

it's altered my spirit

and smothered desire.

Unable to laugh,

I shed tears.

oh listen dear ,we are not human if we succumb to any pain and hurt,no matter how strong it was ,we are human we have known lots of strength,if not then the things i endure would have killed me years ago ,i have been Car Bombed three times, one of them almost took all my left scalp bone away ,an american soldier even laughed,he said oh you die easy do you and i laughed too ,all my clothes were torn away with dust covering me from head to foot ,but i just wiped the dust from my face and smiled and said to him laughing oh you bet we dont die easy ,and left...

Just as you talk about a penetrating pain, I feel a part of it when I read this poem. It's very sad, and REAL.
A good read. :)

Sometimes there are just situations where the short emotional answer is the only one that makes sense. I can relate to what you penned here. It takes time to heal doesn't it...
Expertly done!

All the best,
Mark

My wife lives with this same situation daily. I feel for you. You should look her up sometime. She goes by Windy here on the cafe.
