The Mind Of A Man

The Mind Of A Man

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

This poem is dedicated to my hard to understand friend, George.

"

It's so very hard to understand,

the working's of the mind of a man.

Just when you think you know what he's about,

he does something you just can't figure out.

He says he wants a woman as sweet as his sweet mother,

but then he turns around and chooses the other!

There's the one that may get upset, but she tries to talk it out,

but he goes for the one who likes to scream and shout!

Instead of going for the one who looks for ways to help him save his pay,

he goes for the one who asks,"What did you buy for me today?"

This one piles his plate high, for him to feed,

the other is only concerned with her own greed.

He foresakes the one who asks,"Hon, how was your day?"

for the one who couldn't care less and has to have her own way.

There's the one who'll help in his time of need,

but he picks the one who'd never help, no matter how he'd plead.

For the one who tries to understand,

he dismisses with a wave of his hand.

It's so very hard to understand,

the working's of the mind of a man!

Hear Hear!! I have a deep friendship with my ex husband of 15 years and we ask each other the same question all the time...why does the opposite sex always go for the mean ones? It never works out and they always end up unhappy, but they go right back out and choose another person just like the first one who hurt them! I guess I am guilty of this too although I consciously try NOT to be. I have decided I am too stupid to date. I will just have male friends. Works for me!

Oh, and most men say the same thing about the fickleness of woman's love.

Sounds very much like a woman rejected. Also sounds like a man that will or has regrets. I think some men get a narrow vision focused on some attribute that they believe is enough and try to just ignore the negative parts of a relationship. I also believe that men unconsciously choose attributes that emulate their childish impression of their mother.
The rhyming made it fun, the thoughts were concise and I could relate well. It reads a little choppy, but I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for sharing this.

Oh this one was really good for me to read, I loved it from start to finish. each section I enjoyed so much because I kept thinking yup you don't understand a man's mind.. LOL Oh I love this poem I will save it. Men are much more simpler than that.. you have to think of the basics when dealing with us. :) I would tell you but the all boys club prohibits the leaking of such information .. Great write!!

Man or Woman, i think this poem applies to the attraction of people to their opposites.

I found this poem to be viewed with the poets intentions placed first. It's wonderfully crafted from a stance that comes from one side of a two way fence.

Your word choices were good and your were able to relate a lot of information in a short time.

Nice Work. :)
