Happy Birthday My Twin (2008)

Happy Birthday My Twin (2008)

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

I wrote this for my twin sister in 2008

"

When the universe posts its entry of this lifespan that we share,

on the page that I am given,

you will be there.

I will write the truth in each and every line,

how you generously gave of your heart

and tended to mine.

In countless ways you gave an assist,

it would take a book,

to hold the long list.

You fought my battles when I was too weak,

you spoke for me,

when I couldn't speak.

The world will see in the words that flow from my pen,

with you for a sister,

how blessed I have been.

True sister-love swells from this piece. I'm not sure if she is truly your twin or if this is an metaphor, but it has the same impact. Rhyming every other line provides a unifying touch. The rhythm is not as easy because of the irregular syllable count, but it's very sincere and loving and a good read.
Thanks for sharing it will all of us.

Very heartfelt love for your other half, how poetic! Sincerely crafted with deeper meaning than any number of words can describe...... I have 21 year old twins so I know how close you two are! Thanks for sharing true love with us!

thank you!
Thank you for the beautiful poem for your sister. You need to write a book. Not enough books about real love and friendship. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. I believe your sister was blessed to have you too.

Thank you for reviewing!
Very appriciative words. to pay tribute to your sister is wonderful, we don't always let our sisters know how special they are to us.

how you generously gave of your heart
and tended to mine.

Perfect words to to express the deep feelings of love.
