Writing Poems

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

why I have written on a certain subject and what I've learned about myself through it all.

"

On the subject of pain,

I've written quite a few,

if I didn't, I'm sure,

mental illness would ensue.

I've undergone 17 surgeries in my life

and no matter your age,

that can cause a lot of strife.

Needing someone to help you,

for yourself and for your house,

hoping they're thorough and honest, too.

Always aware of how you are feeling,

you do everything you can,

to facilitate your healing.

But my body will never be the same,

despite all the surgeries

and there's no one to blame.

I've held onto my love of laughter,

I won't let that be taken from me,

I'll continue to enjoy it forever after!

Barbara, this is a delightful ode to laughter, as well as a heartfelt testimonial, you encorporate
smoothe rhymes, which in turn creates a sharper image, and allows for a subtle, punctually emotional
impact in succession, encouragong, one can feel your pain, as well as the main emphasis on laughter,
the knowledgable meaning has an uplifting effect reflecting what keeps the heart going, I'm
sure many people can relate in one way or another, reveals your thoughts like an open book.

So true! We laugh and then we heal! It's the only sure cure for what ails us. :) Power of soul and spirit all bundled up in a jolly "HA HA HA" is just what the doctor orders!

Wonderfully crafted poem. I liked the flow, and could find nothing off with grammer or anything else.

Keep up the Smiles and the belly Laughs! :)

pain can be a constant reminder that we are alive, it must be difficult though to be constantly reminded, Laughter is a healer on ones mind and soul. Your pen writes truths and I enjoy the pictures of life that it paints.
