Irrational ThoughtsA Poem by Barbara Walker
Within the pages of my mind, I read all the words that you said. I constantly read every line, I can't get you out of my head.
My entire being longs for you, I'm in a constant anxious state, I don't know what to do, I am so afraid I'm too late.
I came to my senses long ago, I tried to tell you then, I don't blame you, though, I'm the one who went 'round the bend.
How do I get you to understand, I was completely out of my mind. I wore the disabled brand, with a bright neon sign.
It brought the lowest of the low to my door, to do with me what they would, then they would do even more, simply because they could.
But I didn't understand that then, I was thinking irrational thoughts, like being around religious men, my penance could be bought.
