Apology

Apology

A Poem by Barbara Walker

I've been an extremely busy bee,

clearing and cultivating my "land",

planting radishes, squash and flowers,

beautiful to see.

A seashell comforter covers my bed

and I've dyed the curtains to match.

I've stocked my fridge with favorite foods,

I'm very, very well-fed.

There is still much I'd like to do,

such as furniture to re-arrange,

floor coverings to buy and other things,

but I miss doing all this with you.

I, figuratively, slapped you in the face

and I'm sorry, I'd take it back if I could.

To live whatever time I've left in life, without you,

seems a terrible waste.

If you don't feel the same way,

it's a fate I'll be forced to accept,

but I love you, Sis,

no matter what you say.
