Such A Journey

Such A Journey

A Poem by Barbara Walker

My life's been such a journey,

I've had some highs,

but, Lord Almighty,

they're out-weighed by many lows.

I've been weighed down by money problems,

but what is really getting to me,

is the pain encircling my body,

'round and 'round and 'round.

I've forced myself to maintain some interest,

show enthusiasm,  show some zest,

but what I really want to do

is lay this body down

for a long and lovely rest.

barb, one can ceratinly feel the pain which possesses, and, its
amazing how you are able to express yourself in poetry, as if words justify your thoughts,
this poem here is craft, in way it mirrors specific intent, vivid in context,
its great to see peotry expressed with such passion, such talent,

Life, my tone shifts and my thoughts stumble every time I think about it with some interest. I don't feel like thinking about it the very next moment I started thinking. I say it is something to live and experience, why waste time in thinking. Life is a journey, everyone has their own, happy, sad, lost, screwed, boring, etc etc etc. You can add too many words to describe one's journey. You've expressed yours in your own way, which is nice. I see a good use of poetry here, poem is nothing more than expressions, feelings, sentiments.

I like the last five lines most, this part can be the only poem. But I like it the way you've started and then managed to express it all. I thought of giving you the lecture on positivity and moving on or happiness. But I see the truth reflecting in your poem so very clearly that I just ended up accepting your thoughts and view. Great poem, very thoughtful. Keep writing and keep sharing.

I understand the poem. I remember the good days. Left the bad day behind. Always bumps in the road. A wise person tried to steer around them. A very good ending to the poem.

Oh yes, we all feel that way sometimes, I know I do, but I like the way you put it,
"for a long and lovely rest." That makes what sounds daunting, seem inviting.

I love this also, nice poem =)
