Slowly Melting Away

Slowly Melting Away

A Poem by Barbara Walker

You'll play games in your own head,

making up scenario's

and reading all the lines.

You wrong me again and again and again.

What of my heart?

What of my soul?

You are the one chipping away,

ice pick to ice cube,

till my love and trust

become tiny slivers one day,

slowly melting away.

ur welcome
You said a mouthful here.
What of my heart? What of my soul? I like the way you spill your thoughts
and try to deal what he is doing then you Cleverly use of the ice pick to ice cube.
I think this tell me alot about the writer and her emotions.

Nice write in your earlier years...you had then too.

I like this Ice is solid and it fills it's needs, for moments at a time, but slowly it melts away and all that we trusted is now a pool of water.

Excellent write.

This is very powerful. I like how the poem comes full circle, backwards...from your trust and love melting away, to them being left to play games in their own head. This is a great analogy and a fresh perspective on those who erode trust until nothing is left but them, alone with their games.
