Your Anger

Your Anger

A Poem by Barbara Walker

Your anger comes flying in,

as if on the wings of a jet,

out of control, nose diving,

straight into my heart.

Then comes the sharp, hateful words,

cutting into me, tearing me to pieces.

Here comes the ice pick, stabbing,

breaking my love into tiny shards of ice.

Now I am torn and bleeding,

turned into the cold ice queen.

You look disgusted,

as if I'm not quite right in the head.

As my tears begin to fall,

you say you are feeling much better now.

Thought provoking! So many people in this world who love to cause pain as if it's causes them joy. A power trip of some sort. Enjoyed reading this.

am all over the imagery in this poem. i have felt that kind of anger come rushing at me and so i can relate to all that barbara says here. it doesnt matter who was the source of the onslaught; what does matter is their reaction to the outburst; coldly turn and walk away, leaving a spirit bleeding.

Quite simple and well-worded... emotional outbursts sometimes do have adverse effects on the person spewing it, its like coughing it all up and then feeling better, but the one on the receiving end is the one who bears the brunt!
